Thermal Upgrades & Insulation
Thermal Upgrades and Insulation
There are many processes that can be done to an existing sash window to bring it back to its former glory and to meet the architects specifications . This can be anywhere between a simple refurbishment to a complete restoration.
Introducing thermal upgrades to timber doors and windows throughout properties is a complex and worthwhile process to do. This involves enhancing energy efficiency and comfort through various improvements.
Opting for thermal upgrades offers significant long-term savings on energy costs while improving the overall comfort of the property. By enhancing insulation in timber doors and windows, property owners can reduce heating and cooling expenses and create a more
sustainable living environment.
Retrofitting doors and windows with high-quality insulation materials – we can fit brush and accoustic seals along the edges of the window frames.
Changing the glass – historic glass usually lacks thermal insulation, but with the advent of modern materials, we can greatly improve the U-value. Typically, the replacement glass is thicker and has a modern coating. Further, we can use double-glazed units. We can advise you as to the various options available and their cost.
More heat is lost from leakage through the gaps around sash windows than can be saved by trying to double-glaze your existing sashes, which in many cases won’t be possible anyway. A 1mm gap around a window measuring 1.8 metres by 1.2 metres equates to a gap of over 11 square inches!
