Scarcroft Lodge
Scarcroft Lodge estate dates from 1830 and had been thought ‘lost’ for the past 70 years. This mansion has been the subject of a recent planning application for over a hundred retirement accommodation apartments and town houses.
Green Key Restoration were brought in during Summer 2023 to conduct extensive sash window repairs. This project is ongoing and includes everything from re-balancing the sashes, splicing in new timber to replace rotten timber, replacing the staff beads / parting beads, four-part resin repairs and two-part filling repairs.
Scarcroft has been one of our biggest and most varied projects to date. We were tasked with the restoration of many different sub-projects:
- Restoration of many sash windows
- A beautiful oak staircase and bannister
- A large skylight requiring the replacement of 54 panes of glass (heat reflecting)
- Repairs and replication of a teak panelled room (listed)
- Main door restoration
- Leaded light of a large heraldic sash window recreating the frame and box
- The creation of 18 new pilasters ready for carved capitals to be fitted on top. In addition, we restored 4 large Ionic columns measuring 10 foot tall
- A detailed and complex development of a magnificent weather vane with the motif of a cricketer representing Yorkshires long history of cricket. We applied various enamel paint layers and gold leaf
