Sconce Hills

Sconce and Devon park were createed some 350 years ago near Newark and form an important park of our English heritage. Located in Sconce Hills is a beautiful wooden horse which formed the main part of this project. There are many other statues and sculptures for the public to enjoy.

The wooden horse was carved in the 1990’s and unfortunately was vandalised in 2023. Green Key offered to do a full restoration during the Summer of 2024, bringing it back to its former glory. We did this as an act of charity, this means the newly restored horse can go back on display in its rightful place.

Over a 6 week period, our skilled team were able to re-carve the ears, conduct a micro abrasive clean of the entire body, do resin repairs of the body and head and apply a 3 coats of protective paint.

Although we were not paid for this job, we felt it was important to the community and therefore our duty to bring it back to life. We plan to do more projects in the future which we feel are an important part of our identity to support local heritage.
